Steven McDonald - Songs About Love LP/CD/DL

A "graduate" of the LNFG's Secret Coast Songwriters, Steven releases his debut solo LP via the LNFG Cartel on July 25th 2025.

The album will be available on Strictly Limited Edition Eco Colour Vinyl (each pressing will be subtly different), CD and Lossless DL. 

Across 10 tracks, McDonald explores the theme of love: the quiet dramas, hopeful misadventures, and strange magic of loving and being loved - in all its forms. This beautiful piece of folk art was recorded in 2024, at Slate Room Studios outside Edinburgh near the coast in Pencaitland and produced Steven himself along with Garry Boyle (Broken Records, Blue Rose Code, The Elephant Sessions).

McDonald says “I had the pleasure of working with some great musicians on my album who helped bring my vision to life either by co-writing or adding percussion, bass, guitar, cello, organ and violin. Musician James Grant played on “Bad Decision” adding backing vocals and additional acoustic guitar.”

Steven McDonald is part of the Secret Coast Songwriters (a programme mentored by Scottish songwriters such as James Grant and Robert Hodgens (Bobby Bluebell)) and has appeared on the eponymous named albums Vol 1 & 2 released by Last Night From Glasgow in 2024.
